General
Don’t start the engine. If it’s already running, pull over somewhere safe and switch it off. Put your hazard lights on, stay with the vehicle and call 1300 692 469. Starting or driving pushes the wrong fuel through the pump, lines and injectors, which is where the damage happens.
It can, especially if the engine is run for a while. If you act quickly, we drain and flush the system on the spot before any lasting damage is done.

No. If the engine wasn’t started there’s no risk to your warranty. Even when it has been started or driven, our drain and flush is non-invasive, so your warranty isn’t voided.
Some comprehensive policies cover misfuelling, so check your policy or call your insurer. We provide a receipt and job details you can use for a claim.

Most jobs take around 45 minutes from when we arrive to when you’re driving away again. Some are quicker and some take longer, depending on the vehicle and the service it needs.

Yes. Where it’s needed we carry clean fuel, so you can drive away straight after the job.
All petrol, diesel and hybrid vehicles, including cars, SUVs, 4WDs, utes, vans, light commercial vehicles and trucks.
Petrol in diesel
Not much. Modern diesel fuel pumps and injectors rely on diesel to lubricate them, so even a small amount of petrol can start causing wear. Don’t start the engine and call us.

Diesel in petrol
Both are serious, in different ways. Petrol in a diesel damages the fuel pump and injectors. Diesel in a petrol car causes misfiring and smoke, and can foul spark plugs and damage the catalytic converter if it’s driven. See the difference explained.
Check your receipt or the pump you used. Diesel nozzles are usually bigger. If you’re not sure, don’t start the engine and call us.
If it ran on diesel for a while there’s a risk. The sooner we drain the system the better, and we’ll tell you honestly what we find.
Adblue
AdBlue in the fuel tank is the more serious one. It doesn’t mix with diesel and can damage the fuel pump and injectors once it gets into the system. Diesel in the AdBlue tank damages the exhaust treatment system instead. Both need fixing before you drive.
Every AdBlue job is assessed case by case. If the engine wasn’t started, a full drain and decontamination usually sorts it. If it was started, we still do the full process to find out, and we test drive every vehicle after the fix.
It’s always recommended to replace the fuel filter after AdBlue contamination. Whether it’s included in our service depends on the job, and we’ll talk you through it.
Many AdBlue jobs can be fixed on the spot, especially if the engine wasn’t started. Some vehicles are harder to flush fully on the roadside, and if so we’ll tell you honestly.
Contaminated fuel and drains
Common signs are hard starting, rough idling, loss of power, stuttering and warning lights, often soon after filling up. If you notice them, stop and call us.
Stop driving as soon as it’s safe, keep your fuel receipt and don’t keep trying to start it. We’ll drain and clean the system and give you paperwork for a claim.
A properly sealed tank shouldn’t let water in. A damaged fuel cap, cracked tank, bad seals or condensation over time can, and water is especially harmful to diesel injectors.

All drained fuel is contained, transported and disposed of in line with EPA Victoria regulations.

It depends on the car park. Enclosed car parks can be unsafe for draining fuel because of fumes, so call us and we’ll work out the safest way to help.
Your safety comes first. Don’t restart or move the vehicle, put your hazard lights on, and if it’s safe, stay in the vehicle with your seatbelt on. If you’re in danger, call 000. Then call us.
